Enhance Term 3 2024 Week 4
Hi guys!
Welcome to the week 4 blog,
This week our students embarked on their second camp. On the first day of camp, the students helped to swiftly pack all our camp equipment into the bus and all the bikes into the trailer. We then took an hour and a half bus ride to our home for the next two days, the Wesburn Recreation camp. After we unpacked, it was back on the bus to the Redwood Forest in Warburton. In the forest, students broke into two groups and started a leadership activity where they had to hide three objects in the forest and give clear instructions by counting trees and giving compass directions to direct the other group to their items. Next, we went to Mt Donna Buang and walked to a viewing point at the summit of the mountain. As we got to the bottom of the viewing point it started snowing! After, we went back to the campsite and had some time to relax before the students made a delicious Mexican feast for dinner.
Day two of our camp was spectacular. We had a slight sleep in until eight o’clock. We got up and some of our student chefs made pancakes. We then headed straight onto the bus to start our bike riding journey. As we unloaded all the bikes we realised we had two bikes with punctures in them :( Fear not, it was easily fixed when Brendan went to the shop and grabbed two new tubes for the bikes. Bhagavada, Grayson and Noah were great bits of help and worked together as a team to fix the two punctured tyres so that we could get on our way. We then rode 10 kilometres to our indoor archery session where all the students got to showcase their archery skills. On the way home we stopped at Woolworths and got ingredients for the student’s bake off later that evening. After we relaxed for a little bit the students competed in a mini game Olympics that boiled down to the last activity, the bake off! It was a hard fought battle but the Spicy Cheese Dumplings prevailed with their cake pops and edible cookie dough.
On day three, the final day of the camp, students got up early and got ready quickly because we had to leave camp on time and go caving! The students all hurried onto the bus eager and ready for their adventure. On the way to our caving expedition, we had some obstacles on the road, trees had fallen on the road! Noah, Yahya, Charlotte and Grayson jumped out of the bus and cleared the path for us but as we turned the corner a huge tree had fallen over the road. All the students and all the staff got off the bus and worked together as a team to move the tree and clear the path, thankfully we were successful and could get to the caves. We all got off the bus and got ready for the caves all the students put on a pair of overalls and a helmet and on we went. We crawled through water, climbed on rocks and squeezed our way through the muddy cave. All students did a great job helping each other through the cave and providing support to each other when needed they should all be very proud of themselves.
We had an incredible camp together full of fun, laughter, leadership and teamwork. All the students were so enthusiastic and seemed to have a wonderful time, see you all next week.
