Referrals from Government schools in the Northern Metropolitan Region via Student Welfare or Year Level Coordinators and other welfare agencies can be made throughout the year. Operation Newstart staff also contact eligible schools within municipal areas prior to the beginning of a program for referrals.
Referrals need to be lodged one term before the commencing term.

Interviews for potential applicants along with their referring staff member and parent/guardian are conducted in the last week of the term prior to starting.
