On Wednesday we went to the Eltham Leisure Centre to meet with our instructor Brad. We had a group warm up session working on some resistance band exercises which allows us to activate more muscles and helps build strength. We also used a spikey ball to massage our muscles which increases blood flow to the connective tissue, helping to recover quicker from workouts. Hi everyone! On Wednesday we had another great session at the Eltham Leisure Centre. As a group warm up, we went for a jog around the centre. Instructors Brad and John then facilitated a circuit training session to get the heart rates up even more! There were 8 stations that worked on all parts of the body. Gidday everyone! On Wednesday morning we went to Eltham Leisure Centre to continue our workout programs Firstly, the students took turns in leading an active stretch session for a particular joint they had prepared for the week earlier and then we played a game of knockout basketball to get the heart pumping and the blood moving before going inside the gym. Hi everyone! On Wednesday, we headed straight to the Eltham Leisure Centre where Brad greeted us. He spoke to us all about nutrition and why it is important to adopt a healthy eating pattern. We talked about what nutrients are needed by our bodies and when it is a good time to consume certain food groups, especially when your are doing exercise. Hi everyone! This week we had our first camp of the program at the Cathedral Ranges! On Wednesday we spent the morning at Eltham Leisure Centre with instructor Brad and co-staff John, working on our fitness programs that was individually designed and tailored for each student. The young people were introduced to their regimes and how to effectively and safely use the equipment in the gym before they had free rein. The students were respectful and engaged well.
