Enhance Whittlesea Term 3 Week 3 2017

Our third week of the program started out at Whittlesea Community Connections at Epping where we met Chris, a community lawyer at the centre. He gave us lots of information around laws that affect young people and our students had the opportunity to ask any questions they had around the law and their rights. From here, we headed to the Edge where we put in some solid planning time for our community project. For the afternoon, once again the weather was not ideal for the outdoor activity planned so we headed indoors and had a fun game of 10 pin bowling.

The rest of our week was focused on gaining practical skills and preparing for our snow trip. Thursday we started the morning packing for camp, and making sure we all have the right equipment for our 3 days up at Mt Buller. We squeezed in a solid game of volleyball as well. In the afternoon, Eric and Danae from Good Cycles came on board to show our students how to properly maintain a bike and to make sure our donated bikes are in great condition and safe to donate to a newly arrived group of young children in the community. The students gained new bike skills, and those who already knew a lot did a great job of sharing their skills with others.

Friday morning we headed into Parkville to undertake a full first aid course. The students listened attentively and all completed their certificate. First aid is a really useful skill to have, and we were impressed by how everyone undertook the training. The rest of the day was spent talking all things snow trip- we're all pumped and ready to go very early Wednesday morning next week!
