Hi everyone, welcome to the week 2 blog!

We had a great week this week starting with a swim at Fitzroy leisure centre, all the students did great! We then met with Andrew to go through a gym session, we did a circuit with each student doing different exercises, they got assistance on how to use all the equipment. The students then had some time to roam the gym and use different equipment with the opportunity to ask any questions they had regarding the workouts and equipment. Everyone got their blood pumping and had a great workout!

After the gym we returned to the Yarra Youth Centre to do a street art session with Brodie. The students had free rein of the space and all the coloured paints, they all were super creative and made some great pieces. Brodie was around to give any assistance and tips and tricks for the students.

On Thursday we headed to Collingwood alternative school for the students to pack up all their equipment needed for the hike camp! We had a debrief and prepared the bus for the drive to the Cathedral Ranges. Once we arrived at camp, we all unpacked the bus and got ready to set up our camp site. All the students set up their tents, mats and sleeping bags so they were ready for the night.

We then started our hike up to Ned’s Peak where we practised positive mindsets and helpful thoughts throughout the tricky hike uphill. All the students showed great support and leadership together continuously checking on the rest of the group. Once we reached the top of Ned’s Peak we all enjoyed the stunning views and how far we had come up the mountain! After we headed back down to the camp site and the students prepared a yummy dinner of teriyaki chicken, veggies and rice! We had a lovely night by the fire roasting marshmallows and chatting about the achievements of the day.

We woke up on Friday and packed up the camp site, had some breakfast and drove to Marysville to Stevenson’s falls. We had a beautiful walk up the waterfall to an amazing view at the top! We then drove to Healesville to make some lunch and have a birthday cake for Ruby! We then headed back home with everyone tired after a great trip!

Unfortunately, with all the excitement and busyness of the camp we didn’t get the chance to conduct our student interview of the week so we will have a double interview next blog!

We all had an amazing week and can’t wait for next week!
