Country Fire Authority
The Country Fire Authority have invited Newstart students to attend the Fiskville training facility to learn about fire
safety—one of the best science lessons students will ever sit through– and then how to extinguish fires using extinguishes and fire hoses.
This is a rare opportunity for students to experience the same training the professionals use. Fiskville is a unique training facility, which
is not accessible to members of the public and is run by dedicated staff of professional people. The facility allows our students to experience
a realistic fire scenario in a controlled and safe environment.

Royal Australian Air Force
The Royal Australian Air Force have provided the program with qualified instructors from their Officer Adventure Training School.
Without their input students wouldn’t be crawling through caves or leaping off or scrambling up cliffs. The self development in the students through
this partnership is hard to quantify. I guess you just need to look at the ear to ear smile at the end of one of these days.
In particular the program is supported by members from Officer Training School at Point Cook and the members from 21 City of Melbourne Squadron
at Laverton.

The Royal Australian Navy
The RAN has invited the students down each term to experience the combat course and mud run.
This has proved to be a fantastic day where students experience an exhilarating and physically challenging team-building day with the Defence Force
Physical Training Instructors. Students also experience life on a Navy Base and find out career options in this area of the Defence Force.
This day is a culmination of all areas of self-development that students have gained throughout term and represents the final challenge offered by
the program.

About This Site
The Operation Newstart web site was originally an extension of the CAS site.
There were limited resources to develop the site to meet the needs of the programme.
Being able to contribute to the enhancement and extension of the site has provided me the opportunity to give something back in appreciation of the
immense benefit my son gained from attending the programme in 2002.
Staff and students have been embarrassing in their thanks and praise for the changes. They say it has given a new dimension in promoting the program
to all the schools and agencies in the community. I truly hope that is the case. I’ve witnessed first-hand the effectiveness of the programme and the
commitment and talent of its staff. Operation Newstart is indeed a worthy cause, well worth promoting.
